This one certainly isn't. The Empire School of Boxing is a welcoming place where everyone is given a chance and there are no favourites. Bullying or intimidation is not tolerated.
Under 17's with no prior boxing experience should come to our Juniors class. Over 17's with no prior boxing experience should come to our Keep Fit and Boxing Basics class. Come along to one of our sessions and have a word with one of the club coaches. Class details, times and joining instructions can be found here.
Not at all. We have varying degrees of fitness in our gym users. Just come along and try your best, That's all anyone can ask of you.

Most of our gym users (including our boxing squad) train in comfortable sports wear such as shorts, vests and t-shirts. When the sessions get into full swing the gym can get very hot. Make sure you have dry clothes to change into at the end of your class. There is no boxing 'uniform' to be worn in training although we do have some club branded merchandise for sale.
There are gloves and skipping ropes available at the club. Before buying your own equipment you are more than welcome to try out a session first to make sure that boxing training is for you. Once you are sure that you'd like to carry on coming it would be beneficial to buy your own equipment.
Nobody is obliged or pressured to spar or undertake contact exercise at the club. We have many members who come along to keep fit and enjoy learning boxing technique and drills without competing.
You must be 8 years old to train at our club.
You must be at least 11 to take part in sparring and competition.
The age limit to compete in amateur boxing is 34, although you can compete as a 'Master' up to the ages of 40 against people of a similar age.

Yes. There is ample enclosed parking on site.
To become a boxing coach, you must be a nominated member of an ABAE affiliated club, hold CRB accreditation and a 1st Aid qualification. You must then study for the relevant ABAE coaching qualifications.
